Session Summary

  • The has decided to travel as a party to The Crucible and has booked passage on a ship, captained by Knox from Trevex to Outwatch and then continue the journey on land. En route, we are first stopped by a Sphynx that confronts us with riddles, we are attacked by bandits that we overcome and earn some trust from Knox, we bond over drinks and games on the ship, and arrive at an Ingrham. At the we first meet Finthir Shinebright who engages us to restore her to human form before we are confronted by cloaked figures asking us to turn over Finthir.

The Sphynx on the River

  • Sailing along our ship stops suddenly when confronted with a sphynx. Knox calls us over as she engages with the sphynx whom requires us to answer riddles before we may pass. We work together to answer each riddle. Upon our answering all the riddles we are granted passage and continue on.

The Bandits on the River

  • On the fourth day of travel the ship is accosted by bandits that tell us “your money or your lives”. We opt to engage, Manchineel heaving a trident from the ship and it thudding into the grown harmlessly. We persist, Lorian is able to pick off several of the bandits from cover, with the rest of us chipping in from the decks before Cosimo lands the killing blow on the bandit leader with a blast that seems to open up the air in front of him and disappear before re-appearing and cutting the bandit leader in half.
  • Our aid in this battle earns us the trust of Knox.

The Ship

  • During our travels after the bandit encounter, we stay at an Inn called “The Ship” which is a full-sized Galleon crossing the entire river.
  • We get drunk and have a number of encounters, people waking with random names.
  • Nothing serious happens and we head down river towards Ingrham

The Talking Sheep

  • The rest of our journey to Ingrham is mostly uneventful. We hear rumors of hags on the riverbank, but encounter nothing. We arrive at the lake and Knox is forced to buy a pass from Volaris of Ingrham. We are told that the fees from the passes are used to keep away a Kraken. We get off the ship for a 24 hour rest while Knox collects items for trade.
  • While we are making our way off the ship, we are approached by a sheep with a scroll. Cosimo reads the scroll which is a spell scroll of speak with animals. Suddenly we are all able to talk to the sheep who introduces herself as Finthir Shinebright. Finthir has been turned into a sheep by a wand of polymorph and wishes our aid in getting it back. During our discussion, we are approached by two cloaked figures that ask for their pet back…but they are suspicious and we are reluctant…
